For your seasonal present, I have included a list of links of religious justification of pedophilia and domestic violence. You should be able to find at least one to eliminate at least one God botherer from your holiday table.

Most are Catholic,some are Baptist. Pell is included for all you Aussies.

Yes, I included the Baptists is my list as I had the conversation with the Baptist lady who was screaming mad and asking how she could make sure that the abuse in the Baptist Church made the same amount of press as the Catholics. I told her she couldn't. Catholics are 1/6 of the WORLD population. (I gave her what help I could and joined her group, too.) Any individual Protestant denomination isn't going to be able to compete. It is the same as the phrase "going postal." Postal employees are only slightly higher more likely to commit violence against a co-worker because of the employing of vets with PTSD. It is just that the post office is the nations LARGEST employer.

I am especially angry that Catholicism has a centralized hierarchy, that DELIBERATELY CHOOSES TO PROTECT THE PEDOPHILES. I am Catholic. I at least have slight chance of being able to do something in my own Church.

He suggests that pedophile behavior by priests is a trend that rose and declined between the 60s and 80s, roughly corresponding with the sexual revolution of that period. That's just spin. Priests have been raping children for centuries, and they're still doing it. Just Google Pope Julius III. What changed in the second half of the 20th century was society's willingness to challenge and prosecute these vile men in black.

Sadly, no matter the position

Sadly, no matter the position, be it priest or gymnastics coach, there are people placed in a position of trust who commit the most heinous of crimes, raping and/or molesting children.

But what separates roman catholic priests from all the other scum is that they are controlled by a powerful and very well controlled central organization. And that massive and very rich world-wide organization has NOT done the right thing by condemning and punishing the perpetrators, but instead protected the scum.

As they once said, "all roads lead to Rome". It should now be amended to "all pedophiles flock to Rome".

This is NOT A SLAM ON HOMOSEXUALS. Apparently, from what I have read. The Church maintains a HOMOPHOBIC position and uses this position to SHAME GAY PRIESTS into doing their bidding. This is a common theme throughout this kind of literature. While not directly related to pedophilia it is related to the psychological state of priests. They are kept and controlled in a "Cage of Shame"

So what is the point --- Now the Vatican wants to blame the child abuse cases on....... wait for it .............. HOMOSEXUALITY. Yep! It is those evil homosexuals among them that are the cause of pedophilia.

Quite true. A simple fact which tends to get ignored. I've also read of a problem among the Amish an Orthodox Jews.

The abuse of children and the cover up of such abuse anywhere suggests a systemic problem . However, it does not reasonably allow for a conclusion that all or even the majority of a given group are guilty. I think that's called "guilt by association". Not a principle I support.

I was brought up devout Irish Catholic . I was educated at first by nuns and later by the De La Salle brothers, as was my younger brother. Both sisters attended convent schools.

I was physically abused by the good brothers, for whom the strap was the preferred teacher's aide, due to their utter incompetence.

However, I never once saw or heard of sexual abuse at my school, or within the schools attended by my sisters. All of the priests I met growing up were decent, devout men.

The claim about pedophiles in the Vatican is so risible, I can only assume Mrs Paul O is poeing . If serious , would love to see the evidence to support such a claim. If not, I feel safe dismissing the claim as hysterical nonsense.

I was a 3-4 X/week,50 year plus, cradle Roman Catholic watching the pedophile crisis in horror, especially when the previous entity in possession of the vatican compared women who want to be priests to pedophiles. Then the PA bishops ordered all the priests to blatantly lie about PA Bill 1947 which extended the statute of limitations on pedophiles. I complained to my local priest; who handed out the "Catholic' League’s Essay "Women's Moral Descent" with its theme that men have the right and moral obligation to decide which women deserve to be raped. I called my daughter at college, crying, saying that all the priests were depraved perverts totally dedicated to worshipping their dicks. Her response, “Duh, Mom! I’m sorry you had to figure it out in such a painful way.

From what I can tell, this campaign was led by Philadelphia Archbishop Chaput (Slap You). - Archbishop Chaput is listed as a major supporter of Bill Donahue's 'Catholic' League. - Bill Donahue's opinion was the "the Bill had only ONE purpose - To Stick it to Catholics" - implying he believes pedophilia is right exclusive to Catholics. What ? I neither said nor suggested any such thing. Kindly do not put words in my mouth. My post was mean only to challenge what I sea as an hysterical view of pedophiles in the Vatican. All you need do for me to change my opinion is to provide actual proof (I'm unable to accept media reports as reliable providers or truth.) Further, in my country, we have a quaint little convention called "the presumption of innocence" "

I have a cousin who is still a Catholic.The last theist in my family. I asked him how he could stay in the church. His response was the pedophile priests are only men. Their disgusting behaviour does not negate the teachings of the church. He's right.

As it turns out, I have been paying attention ,and am somewhat familiar with the issue, especially In Australia ,and the case of cardinal George Pell, now in prison for abuse (there is no statute of limitation on sexual crimes in Australia) .
