Anyone watching the new Cosmos with NDT? Although there will always be a room in my heart for Carl Sagan, I do like NDT. Reading some very negative stuff from the fundies about it. What are your thoughts about the show so far?

Yes, I'm watching it. Its seems like a pretty cool show.
Have you heard the creationist are upset because their views are not being expressed on the show. I think the creationist expressing this are probably trying to illustrate how ridiculous it is to try and force the teaching of your belief, still scared from the Bill Nye debate where they have have argued that certain things should not be taught in school because it stands against their religious views. What they fail to notice is their belief is belief not science and science is science not belief. One can not simply wish or believe something true and have it be so.
If you ever get the chance watch some footage of Neil slowed down it's High-larious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSHNyppwS5w
Bah ha ha ha...I love me some NDT but *that* is funny! Maybe he's been to Washington state where we have laws that allow that which would make him sound just like that.
There's a joke going around that they get him stoned film the show and speed it up for regular viewing.
I have watched both of the new episodes and tonight will be the 3rd. I love it and can't get enough of it. I wouldn't even know who Neil deGrasse Tyson is if it was not for posts I had seen on facebook about him. I have many heroes that I look up to and try to emulate in the atheist world, names like Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Matt Dilahunty, and now Neil deGrasse Tyson. None of these names brought me to atheism though. I blame that solely on George Carlin.
Cosmos is becoming a weekly fix I have to get. I do not have much I look forward to each week but I will be damned (ha ha) if I will miss a single episode of Cosmos now. It scares me how the Fundies have taken the offensive against the show. I can understand their fears and the desire to protect their fragile beliefs, but scared at how many of them are out there. Are we really so unevolved that we must continue barking at the moon, worshiping the sun, bowing before golden idols, and allowing invisible deities to control our minds? Worse yet, do we have to fight to keep those primitive beliefs intact?
The first Cosmos aired in 1980, hosted by another hero, Carl Sagan. NDT has been around for a while, popularizing science in the footsteps of Dr. Sagan. So glad you're enjoying it!
The fundies hysteria will not succeed. History teaches us that those who have unreasonable positions become fanatics as they see the ground slipping out from under their feet...
Hi everyone. I'm new here. I really enjoyed the new Cosmos. The first show with NDT was the best in my view, but they all are commendable. I am recording them on DVD for my grandson (he's 3 months). He and I live in the bible belt, (aka the babble belt), and I want to give him a chance to escape from the religionuts around here.
Looking forward to seeing it, I can't catch it on TV but I think it is on Xfinity.
It's available on Hulu for free.
