Ok, so theists tend to believe that our generosity comes from god. That we are kind to others because He says so. What are your thoughts on kindness, how do you think it evolved(obviously it has been beneficial and is beneficial to the continuation of our species), did this aspect of human nature lead to creation of religions, and how do you think it (kindness, generosity) is beneficial in the world we live in today, and is it a selfish function (as in are we kind because we get some sort of positive feedback, i.e. lack of guilt, feelings of worthiness, hope for reciprocity in some way, etc.). That last might sound stupid, but you get the idea. I already have ideas on this but I am curious about what others think about it.

Hey Myth...
If people are only kind because some god instructs them thus, then people who have no gods would not be kind, eh?
I think being kind is hard-wired. It's about cooperation. It's about building relationships. We tend to be social creatures. Kindness helps solidify those social relationships.
Agree with cyber here :)
kindness is something that comes from our hearth, it is an option that we can choose if we feel like it.
It helps in social relationships and also makes us feel better since we think we have done a good deed.
Religion usually abuses this human trait as a way to manipulate people.
Yep that about covers it.
It annoys me that christians always act like they invented it. Dont they know christianity did not always exist lol.
