Is this constitutional?

Today two christians began handling the New Testament in front of my school door (which is NOT a religious school of any kind). While not inside of the school and theferore a public place, their intentions were more then obvious, it was RIGHT at the entrance and RIGHT at the time school starts. I believe this is very wrong as school should be a place for learning scientific knowledge, and no religion indoctrination should get in it's way. They do this every year (most probably they're involved in some religious boomer organization), and before they used to get IN the school and enter the classrooms, until someone (either student or most probably our history and philosophy teacher as he once denied permission for them to enter the classroom and got called out by our school coordination. Either way he's out of the school now and i can't ask him anything) stood up against this bs. Do you think i'm on the right spot here? And is there anything from the law that could be used against this? I'm Brazilian, but i imagine our constitution and laws to be similar to the US or other democratic countries.

The reason I ask is it sounds

The reason I ask is it sounds like adults have to address this... and for all you know, they have.

You need to focus on your “shit” and I’m far from 15, so I’ll share with you a couple of things my boys would do;
- my 15 yr old would hummm “hi way to hell” every time he walked by or “sneeze” out the word “bullshit” so they hear it
- my 17 yr old likes to stir shit up...he’d call every other religion/church (Muslim, Jewish, Jehovah’s Witnesses - you get the idea) and tell them it seems a lot of kids are interested in their religions and are talking about it, and their school allows proselytizing....

But that’s my kids. I’m an adult and so I’m sure the adults will deal with this in legal ways if they are available...

Brazilian? I don't think

Brazilian? I don't think your laws would be anything at all like the laws in the USA.
Brazil: Federal Supreme Court Authorizes Religious Education in Public Schools
Oct. 6, 2017) On September 27, 2017, the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (Supremo Tribunal Federal, STF) dismissed, by a majority vote (6 to 5), a Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (Ação Direta de Incosntitucionalidade, ADI) in which the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Procuradoria-Geral da República, PGR) questioned the model of religious education in the country’s public school system. (STF Conclui Julgamento Sobre Ensino Religioso nas Escolas Públicas, NOTÍCIAS STF (Sept. 27, 2017); ADI 4439, STF (last visited Oct. 3, 2017).)

The President of the STF, Minister Carmen Lúcia, who was the last of the justices to vote on the ADI, followed the opinion initially presented by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who voted for the dismissal of the ADI and said that religious education in Brazilian public schools is confessional in nature, that is, linked to different religions. (Id.) According to Carmen Lúcia, “the secular nature (laicidade) of the Brazilian State did not prevent the recognition that religious freedom imposed duties on the State, one of which is to offer religious education as an option.” (Id.) She further stated that everyone agrees with the secularity of the state of Brazil, its religious tolerance, and the fundamental importance of the freedoms of belief, expression, and manifestation of ideas. Apparently you have a much more liberal approach to religion in schools in Brazil than we have in the USA.

The Above, does not actually matter as you have stated "They were in a public place." BE VERY CAREFUL!!! The RIGHT of the religious to share their message in public IS ALSO your right to share your message in public. DO NOT INFRINGE ON FREE SPEECH. In all honesty, you should be supporting their right to FREE SPEECH. If you do not like their message, get yourself some fliers, stand across from them, and pass out your fliers to the people passing by.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH does not mean FREEDOM FROM OFFENSE. You don't like the message, don't listen to it.

I see where you're coming

I see where you're coming from and agree with you that freedom of speech should be protected no matter what. But observe that this liberation for confessional education is ONLY for non-obrigatory (facultative) subjects, that is, the individual can choose wether to take part or not to take part in it. For example, this school gives an option of completing the Eucaristia (Holy communion) process. that is of course allowed. But this confessional education does not apply for normal subjects like history, math, geography etc. Also i understand completely that the place IS public, but it seems for me that that could be an exploitation of the law, yes the place is public, but it is different spreading religious thoughts on a plaza, street, the Avenida Paulista then doing it right on the staircase of a school's door that teaches secular knowledge on it's normal schedule.

Nope. On the closet atheist.

Nope. On the closet atheist. Although it's kind of obvious that i'm an atheist i've never explicitly told them. That is until they ask me about it or ask me to go to church or something. Also they don't know about the bibles being handed at school. I don't plan to take this on court, max i'll do is try to talk to the coordination and try my best not to indispose myself with them

Call an attorney that deals

Call an attorney that deals with the subject and see what he says. There are Q and A forums for legal matters on line.

!5 years old...at that age,

!5 years old...at that age, we would have amassed mega gallons of water on the roof by the door, ready to pour...have a buddy dressed as noah, with a dog and kitty in separate cages, all in a rowboat, moved to the background when the nutheads got there...and then filmed us yelling "flood", while pouring the water on them. I am not suggesting you do that though... :D

You mean Noah?... *sorrowful sigh*... You really need to get your biblical characters straight, buddy. Otherwise, people might start thinking you are making up all that shit.... Oh, wait...

@doG Re: "...moses was charlton heston...russell crowe was noah...is that right? :D"

...*thinking*.... Ummmm, yeah. I do believe that is correct. Oh, and it is my understanding Charlton actually met with Moses to get a better understanding of the guy in preparing for his role. And if I'm not mistaken, Mr. Crow was said to have met with a few descendants of Noah in an effort to do the same. You really have to admire their professionalism and their dedication to their work.... *nodding head approvingly*...

@Tin-man by all acounts mr

@Tin-man by all acounts mr Heston was dim enough to believe he had actually met Moses, or a grand son.--I mean, the bloke was president of the NRA . Unlike Wayne LaPierre, far too stupid to steal from them.

Russel is smart enough, but far too surly, he would have gotten into a fight with Noah*.

))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))0))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

*Did you know Moses was indirectly responsible for the discovery of methane? It's true I swear. Says so in one of the much later Jewish apocrypha . I think it's in the book of Trevor.

It went like this: After having landed safely on Mt Lofty (South Australia, NOT Mt Ararat in Turkey) Noah wanted to grow some veggies. So he grabbed his son in law, the argumentative one, by the throat. . By threatening to kill him, Noah made him go go into the bottom of the ark with the wheelbarrow and shovel . His task was to get some of that fantastic manure. It was very dark down there, so son in law thought he'd light a lamp---------all that manure was spread automatically, along with the argumentative son in law. Noah was thrilled with the outcome. His daughter, not so much.
