Christian Liars

I think that Christianity by it's nature helps some people to become liars. It helps them rationalize, and it gives them practice at lying.

I was involved in the Evangelical Christian groups in University. And I had a friend who was working full-time while getting both a Major and a minor. He became a student leader in one of the groups and we sort of "lost contact" as friends. I basically figured it was because he was so busy. He married his girlfriend before graduation, and graduated before me even though I had begun University earlier (I couldn't get all my classes to graduate in four years). And I heard that he graduated with honors but was too busy to attend the graduation ceremony.

I heard that my friend got a super good job immediately after graduation, but he also almost immediately quit that job to take another job as a youth pastor. I also heard that he was offered a very good raise to stay -- despite having worked there only a very short time.

Anyway, a little over a year ago I found him on Facebook. He is now the head pastor of his own church. I complimented him, asked a couple of questions, and asked to be added as a friend. He added me as a friend but otherwise didn't respond to me at all. I expected him to say something like, "Good to see you", (congratulate me on something), and suggest that I come to his church sometime.

And when I looked at his Facebook information there was no mention of his University degree. Instead he listed a Bible college he had attended -- the same year he quit his job and moved to become a "Youth Pastor"?

Another Facebook friend who was on 'Staff' -- with the same University Christian group -- listed a different University, and Major, than the one he actually attended. I wrote and asked him about it and he admitted he was really referring to a summer course he took at the University. Then he changed his Facebook profile to show the actual University he attended, and the degree. My pastor friend also updated his profile and listed the University he had attended with me and the major he had 'studied'.

Maybe I am too suspicious but I wonder if my friend actually graduated from University. I wonder if he really got the super job he claimed. And I am suspicious that he went rushing down for the 'Youth Pastor's position that he'd heard about, only to be told that he had no religious training -- and he ended up going to a Bible school for a year before working at that church.

There were questionable things that the University Christian group had us do. They sent us out with fake Christian 'surveys'. We were supposed to ask if they had a minute to answer survey questions. Then once we got them answering questions we were supposed to try to get them talking about Christianity -- and then to try and convert them. In the evening people from my group shared fake stories about our evangelizing successes -- which never occurred...

There's a bit more to that

There's a bit more to that story than I'm telling but I want to keep things vague. I think that the "Christian World" is absolutely full of fakers.

RE: Christian Liars
We all know religions are full of charlatans, manipulating people and stealing money from their congregations. We all know that most of what believers call facts of faith are based on fallacies of logic, irrational assumptions and unfalsifiable claims. At the same time it can not be denied that there are a lot of people in Churches and religions who have bought into the lies, believe the lies, and think they are actually doing good because of the lies, but are not actually trying to lie or manipulate themselves. Belief in prayer comes to mind. The most worthless thing to do on the planet. Pray for a starving kid instead of giving him a bowl of rice. Prayer has to be one of the most immoral acts one human can do while pretending to help another. The person praying gets to pat themselves on the back for being a good caring person and pretend they have actually done something when they have done nothing at all.
But is this person lying or just delusional? At most I would claim they are lying to themselves and do not see the shit they are swimming in.

As far as fake surveys and finding ways to convert people, almost all Christian sects do this. And they all use debunked apologetics to convince average people to join them in their delusion.

As far as your friend goes..... Yep! I think you have hit the nail on the head. Looks like he quit university and is just too embarrassed to talk with you about it. At least from what you have posted.

WITH THAT SAID: It is a fallacy to generalize from the specific to the many. One shitty lying Christian does not destroy a religion. You need some more....

You can't say that without

You can't say that without first proving there actually was a Jesus.

LOL point well taken, and I

LOL point well taken, and I concede to your infallible argument.

But assuming that there was a person that was the core of all those stories, my conclusion was that he was a malcontent who could not hold a job, was a leader of some group of tough guys, and that there was a prostitute who was frequently with him.

@Thebannedone I agree. And

@Thebannedone I agree. And such stupid things people will lie about too!
Just this past week a friend told me he is dating a gal who was married for 10 years to an ex-boyfriend of mine from when I was in highschool. I'm like cool he got married again, sucks it didn't work. Well it was unknown to them that he had a first marriage he was unfaithful in and got divorced.

I can say from personal

I can say from personal experience in dealing with christians that they do in fact lie more than other people. There is the forgiveness from jesus that comforts them. They can lie, cheat and steal and ask for forgiveness and then go on feeling good, only to do it all again. Do we all lie? Yes I imagine all of us have lied about something sometime. Us heathens are not bound by a forgiving spirit, but it is like the argument of the moral compass and how we are not supposed to have one without god in our lives.

Look at the TV evangelists! They are all liars as it increases the money they get in return for lying. The christian religion is based on a lie anyway, so why not continue the trend? They are only following what their belief is based on!

Addressing the concept of

Addressing the concept of 'Christian Liars' requires nuance. While Christianity promotes honesty and integrity, individuals of any faith can fall short of these ideals. It's crucial not to generalize or stereotype. Instead, focus on the teachings of Christ and strive for truthfulness. Reflecting on personal experiences can also shed light on this topic.
