Big Questions From Little People: And Simple Answers From Great Minds |
Illuminating and necessary, Big Questions from Little People and Simple Answers from Great Minds not only serves as a helpful handbook for curious children and their confused parents but is also a timeless gift for those who have a genuine thirst for knowledge.
Children often ask questions during their growing years that tend to stump even the most highly educated adults. Are we all related to one another? Why can I not tickle myself? Who gave names to the different cities in the world? What makes me who I am? Do aliens exist? Who invented chocolate? Is it all right to eat a worm? If the universe started off from nothing, how did it grow into something? Who is God? How do you fall in love? How do chefs make recipes? Why are people mean to one another sometimes?
This interesting and informative collection of questions and answers has been put together by Gemma Elwin Harris, who spoke to several schoolchildren in the UK to find out what intrigues them the most and consulted some of the most accomplished people in the world while providing accurate answers to those questions. Some of the people that helped Harris complete this book include Richard Dawkins, Mary Roach, Bear Grylls, Philip Pullman, Philippa Gregory, David Eagleman, Mario Batali and Noam Chomsky.
Harris is a freelance writer and editor who contributes regularly to Glamour, Time Out as well as the Sunday Times. After completing her graduation from Cambridge University, Harris moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she currently lives with her family. In an interview, she said three children, including her son and two nieces, inspired her to write Big Questions from Little People and Simple Answers from Great Minds.
