Congressman Takes Pope Francis’ Glass to Sip on Remaining Drink

Bob Brady

In a shocking instance of religiosity, a congressman took the glass Pope Francis was drinking from, while delivering his address at the White House on September 24, to sip on the remaining water, share some with his wife and save the rest for his children and grandchildren.

Democrat Bob Brady, who happens to be a devout Christian from Pennsylvania, quickly made his way to the podium after the pontiff had delivered his speech because the former intended to grab the Pope’s glass that still had some leftover water. He also took photographs of the incident, which he eventually shared with the press.

“The congressman is a Catholic and has immense respect for the Holy Father,” Chief of Staff Stan White told the media.

White explained that Brady was extremely moved by the pontiff’s speech, as the head of the Roman Catholic Church addressed several issues the Democrat deeply cares about. Brady also shared some of the water with members of his staff.

This is not the first time that Brady has pulled a stunt like this, with the media having reported the instance when the Democrat grabbed President Barack Obama’s glass after his inauguration. At the time, he held on to an empty glass and refrained drinking from it.

Speaking to the media, Brady later said that he would have the police dust the glass for fingerprints to prove it was once used by the pontiff. Last time, he had the police dust Obama’s glass as well.
