A Jewish religious teacher in Rhode Island was one of the 11 men that were busted during a statewide child porn sting operation, which was carried out mid May, confirmed police officials. Gary Kabler, education director at Temple Habonim, Barrington, is now facing charges for transfer and possession of child pornography.

Rhode Island State Police announced on May 12 that after three months of undercover investigation, officials recovered pornographic pictures and videos from Kabler’s personal computer. He is among 11 others who were allegedly trading child porn online, not necessarily with each other though, said Captain Christopher Dicomitis. Dicomitis was unable to account for the total number of pictures and videos that each of the suspects was found to be trading however.
“Even if it’s just one image, it’s illegal,” he said.
Kabler, 51, who is a resident of East Province, is believed to have been a teacher of religious classes at Temple Habonim, where he also serves as the education head. Upon receiving news of his arrest, the temple removed Kabler’s photograph and name from its website.
Donald Moore, 67, who is already a registered sex offender, was also arrested along with the 10 others. The remaining nine include 39-year-old Keith Anderson, 51-year-old Mao Lorn, 25-year-old Matthew Corr, 29-year-old Nocholas Jollimore, 66-year-old
Edward Garabedian, 69-year-old John Anderson, 31-year-old Nathaniel Wahl, 39-year-old Joseph Philips and 30-year-old Daniel Cruz.
Police officials confirmed that none of the suspects inappropriately contacted children however.
