A 60-year-old spiritual figurehead reportedly molested four girl students while “fixing their auras” in his residence in Cibitung Kulon in Bogor regency.
One of the victims, identified as AH, said during a press meet for the National Commission for Child Protection on April 28 that the event had taken place when she, along with her friends, identified as AT, FS and AN, all of whom are 15-years-old, were on their way home from school on April 25.
“We met him on the way home and greeted him,” AH said.
According to AH, the accused, identified as Y, said that their auras were closed and he wanted to help them open up.
“He brought us to his house and called us one by one to his room where he groped us,” she said.
Y has often been referred to as Pak Haji, a term that refers to a person who has been on hajj, which is a yearly Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. It is considered a mandatory religious duty for adherents who have the physical and financial strength to do so and must thus carry it out at least once during their lifetime.
The lawyer for the victims, M. Jaya, said he reported the incident to the local police on Monday.
“We reported him with violating Article 82 of Law No. 35/2014 on child protection that carried a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison,” he said.
