Following the example of Catholic hierarchy condemning masturbation and preaching eternal suffering for those engaging in onanism, the Mormons have gone on to regard masturbation as an inevitable consequence of watching pornography and claim it would lead to dire consequences.
In a video released by Brigham Young University on February 3, college president Kim B. Clark draws parallels between a college student watching pornography and a soldier wounded in battle. The video urges students to identify friends who may be masturbating and report them to religious officials.
The video titled “Wounded on the Battlefield” compares reporting a friend to religious authorities for masturbating to helping a wounded soldier during the time of war. According to Clark, masturbation is an enemy and good Mormons must be vigilant.
“If you need to, talk to your bishop, tell someone who can do something that you have a friend in trouble. The temptations of the great war are many, the battles are real, and the enemy is clever. The enemy is cruel, ruthless, and relentless. We must not underestimate the danger. We must be vigilant and valiant,” said Clark.
