An Iranian-born American imam accused “Zionists” of being “enemies of peace” who “love fighting” as well as war and blood, citing Quranic verses describing how Jews disobeyed Allah and killed their prophets.
Mohammad Ali Elahi, a Shia cleric from Dearborn, Michigan, made these remarks during a Friday sermon last September 20th at the Islamic House of Wisdom, live-streamed on Facebook.
The Islamic House of Wisdom, an Islamic center founded by Ali Elahi, is a beneficiary of the Alavi Foundation aid program. The Alavi Foundation, based in New York, has been accused by the Department of Justice in a civil forfeiture complaint in 2008 of secretly serving as “a front
for the Iranian government and as a gateway for millions of dollars to be funneled to Iran in clear violation of US sanctions laws.”
The imam claimed that the words "occupation," "apartheid," "genocide," and "war crimes" are not enough to describe Israel’s brutality and barbarism, reiterating accusations that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians over its war against Hamas in Gaza, which allegedly left over 43,000 dead.

"We cannot find the right words for things that we have been observing in the last year, for almost a year now. What is the word? Occupation, or apartheid, or genocide, or war crimes are not enough to describe the reality of this brutality and barbarism.” Ali Elahi said.
He also called Zionists “enemies of peace” who love blood, misery, crime, and corruption.
"We are dealing with these people who are enemies of peace. They love fighting. They love war. They love blood. They try to escalate the war, to make more mess and more misery in this world because they enjoy crime and corruption.” Ali Elahi said.
The cleric also criticized the American government for sponsoring Israel’s "terrorism” with American taxpayer money, calling it "shameful.”
Allahu Akbar Michigan!
Dearborn is GROUND ZERO for Islam in the U.S. — Just days ago, hundreds gathered to HONOR Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah, an Islamic terrorist responsible for killing 241 Americans and waging jihad against Jews and Christians.

"But what is really shameful for us as American citizens is that our government is sponsoring this terrorism, the state of terrorism, with the tax of this nation. The taxpayers are paying for this kind of violence and terrorism,” the imam remarked.
Ali Elahi also lambasted US President Joe Biden, saying that he appears to be "sleeping" and even accused AIPAC, a pro-Israel lobbying group, of running the United States.
“And then nobody is even talking about that. It looks like we don't have any President now. President Biden is sleeping, we don't hear from him. And it looks like he is just sleeping – a country without a President at this time. And it looks like the country is run by AIPAC both in foreign policy and what is going on in Palestine and Lebanon.” Ali Elahi said.

Ali Elahi also condemned the pager attack in Lebanon against members of Hezbollah, claiming the attack broke international trust because gadgets, household appliances, and cars can now be sabotaged.
"Brothers and sisters, what Israel did in the pager[attacks] and other wireless devices in Lebanon – it is a tsunami against international trust in any transaction. Now there is going to be a crisis in business in the world, that all these countries that they order – whether you order a refrigerator, or a microwave, or a dishwasher, or a cellphone, or a car, or an airplane, or whatever – you don't know if it's going to be the same. If they could do this to a simple pager – what about an airplane? What about a TV set? So now they broke the international trust. That is a treason to [the] trust of this global community.”
He also cited some verses from the Quran that allegedly describe the mischief and treachery of Jews.
"They brought this chaos in transaction because they are 'the people strongest in enmity towards the believers.' 'That is because they rejected the verses of Allah and killed the prophets.' What about this and that? 'They killed the prophets unjustly.' 'That is because they disobeyed [Allah] and transgressed,'” the imam said.

"In another verse, Allah was addressing them, saying: 'Then your heart became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder.' Their hearts are harder than stone. They have no hearts. They have no humanity. They have no trust. 'Every time they make a covenant, a group of them casts it aside. In fact, most of them do not believe,'” he added.
A report published in October this year by the George Washington University’s Program on Extremism titled “Propaganda, Procurement, and Lethal Operations: Iran's Activities Inside America” identified Ali Elahi as a preacher whose views were in line with the Iranian regime’s prompting Republican lawmakers to scrutinize him for his ties with the Islamic Republic.
A CIA report also found that Ali Elahi served as head of the political and ideological office of the Iranian Navy in 1982, an accusation raised by the US Congress and addressed but not denied by Ali Elahi himself. His connections to the regime continued even after his time at the Iranian Navy, with numerous photographs of him with high-level Iranian officials speaking about his ties with the Islamic Republic. He even met with newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on September 24th, four days after his Friday sermon.
