A Catholic priest, who owned a sex shop where he occasionally indulged in sexual acts with men while being cross-dressed, and dealt methamphetamine, recently asked a judge for leniency before being sentenced. A 63-year-old Monsignor, Kevin Wallin first grabbed headlines in 2013, after being accused of distributing crystal meth. Thereafter, unusual details about his life began to emerge, including allegations of money laundering through a sex shop and involvement in inappropriate sexual behavior with “odd-looking men” while adorning himself in women’s clothing.
In mid-March, Wallin, who notoriously came to be known as Monsignor Meth, asked a federal judge for leniency, saying he had been involved in charitable services for three decades before this incident took place. He also managed to receive support from several high-profile clergy members, acquiring as many as 80 recommendation letters from them.
After Wallin, who was earlier a pastor at St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was accused of receiving shipments of methamphetamine from a smuggler in California and selling the drug to an undercover agent on six different occasions. He pleaded guilty to the crime and agreed to a jail term of 10 to 11 years. However, he now seeks to serve four years in prison along with 500 hours of community service.
