A Christian group in Minnesota said it would cure homosexuals of HIV and AIDS at the Twin Cities Pride Festival that was organized on June 28 and 29. The group Trinity Works promised to be at the festival on both days with 300 outreach workers who would help carry out their mission titled Humility 2014.
Steven Uggen, founder of Trinity Works, claims to have had a vision from God who told him to cure homosexuals of sexually transferred diseases like HIV and AIDS.
“My journey into the heart of God around the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community started about five years ago,” Uggen told a group of worshipers at Bethany Church in April.
Uggen believes that if he heals homosexuals of their diseases, they will give up their “lifestyle” and turn to serving Christ instead.
“The Lord really wants to demonstrate his goodness to this community by healing HIV and AIDS, so we believe we’re going to see people healed of HIV and AIDS and we’re just carrying that word of the Lord into this outreach,” he told another group of worshippers at Robbinsdale Church in April.
At a meeting, he asked his outreach workers to urge LGBT community members to be tested for HIV and AIDS and if they came back with a negative result, Uggen wanted them to make a decision about whether or not to serve God, who was after all responsible for healing them. Uggen also asked his helpers to offer homosexuals at the parade gospel materials so they could refer to them and decide what to do.
“I’m confident we’re going to have people healed of HIV and AIDS that are going to be contacting us,” he said.
