Outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins recently called God lazy for making a world that is in an utter mess while ardent creationist Ken Ham responded to that, saying Dawkins is confused since he does not trust the Bible and believes in evolution, which is nothing but an anti-God religion.
In a comic video posted earlier this month, Dawkins is seen speaking to a character called Mr Deity, who is supposed to represent the Biblical God.
“As a biologist I am uniquely qualified to understand just how lazy you've been,” says Dawkins, before going on to draw examples of what he looks upon as imperfections in nature. He cites the retina in the human eye for example, wondering why it is positioned backwards, while adding, “It's just so clear that no intelligent being had a hand in this mess.”
Ham, who blogs incessantly on his Answers in Genesis blog, said Dawkins’ problem was that he had no faith in the Bible and invested himself in evolution, an anti-God religion that is a million years old.
“You see, the universe is governed by laws of nature. But in a random, material universe that supposedly arose naturalistically, where do set immaterial laws of nature come from? And what makes these laws operate the same way tomorrow as they do today?” Ham asked. “There are no real answers to these questions in an atheistic worldview. But there is a Creator, and He set the laws of nature in place at the beginning. And we can trust that these laws will work the same tomorrow as they did today because our unchanging God upholds and sustains the universe (Hebrews 1:3).”
Ham, who promotes a literal interpretation of Genesis, said questioning God’s account of the start of the world could lead one to question the entire Gospel.
“Really, billions of years and evolution are an anti-God religion, and we must recognize them as such. Satan is very clever and is using the same attack he used on Eve, the Genesis 3 attack of 'did God really say?' to make people question God's clear Word. Ultimately, he wants to lead people to reject God entirely, like Dawkins does,” said Ham. “This is why it is so important to stand on the authority of God's Word from the very beginning, give solid answers, and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a dying world.”
The topic of evolution and age of the earth is a rather controversial one among Christians, with different denominations having different views about the same. The Roman Catholic Church, which happens to be the largest Christian denomination in the world, however, claims evolution is in tandem with the Bible’s ludicrous claims.
In June last year, a Gallup poll revealed that 42 percent Americans who participated in the survey believe God made humans in their existing form while 31 percent believe that they underwent evolution under the supervision of God.
