My pathway to atheism story started early in life, but solidified in my later years. My mother was a religious person(Baptist) but she never forced this belief on me. I can remember from the time I was about 6 years old I was always asking why? I accepted that there was a God because I was "told" he existed. Throughout my teens and early 20s I was involved in accidents that some say I shouldn't have survive, as well as having a gun pulled on me and misfire pushed me toward "Devine intervention". But no matter what church I attended I never felt comfortable, never felt it was right. Then as I looked more into the bible and the history of it, it just created more questions which I could never get Straight answers from any "religious" person. This just created more skepticism within me, not to mention the fact that no-one could provide any substantial proof that "he" existed. The contradictions in the bible as well as some stories that were blatant plagiarism(I.e. the life and death and life of Jesus Christ) pointed me in the direction that religion was a lie. After several years of questions with no sensible answers,I officially renounced all religions and confirmed my atheistic views last year.
