God is a person and does what He wishes. Maybe you don’t understand His ways but He is perfect in them. So, here’s the scoop.
Adam and Eve fell into sin. Adam passed his “sinful gene” (not really a gene but you get my drift) onto every human ever born. We are all messed up bcuz of that. So. God knew that we could never be perfect in His sight or obey His ways so He sent His son, Jesus to be our kinsman redeemer. Jesus was God AND man but since He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and NOT Adam, HE HAD NO SIN GENE. He was born to die as the unblemished lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. And He said, “Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you ever feel bad about yourself and or carry guilt or regret about your life, you can be FREE of it all and forgiven completely so that that rock that is on your back and in your gut can be relieved. Jesus can make it disappear and you can be a new person! For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever should believe in Him will be saved.
What a fantastical story...any evidence its true? None eh. Do you always believe fantastical stories others tell you?

* Nine million children die every year before they reach the age of five. Most of these children will die in terror and agony. Most of these parents believe in God and are praying for their children to be spared only to learn that their prayers will not be answered. These parents will grieve for eternity! Most of these children will be going to hell. Through no fault of their own, they were born into the wrong religion and got the wrong theology. According to Divine Command Theory, this all a part of Gods plan. Therefore, God is either immoral or impotent. Either God can do nothing to help these children or doesn't care to.

I perceive that you are very logical and enjoy that kind of thinking. But you don’t understand that there is a spiritual realm that exists to your detriment. My question: if you died now do you know what would happen to you? I’m not trying to be a smart Alec or difficult, it’s a fair question. What if you’re wrong? What if you die and then you realize you are not dead bcuz your spirit is still alive? I beg you to just consider this man Jesus. If you care about your own well being, please. Do not become religious, (I am not) but if you believe that Jesus was the Son of God and rose from the dead you will be saved. Do some reading and see how he was prophesied exactly as he lived and died. Question: if there is no God why does Israel keep surviving? I guess that’s a whole other subject.

I don't go to evangelical links. All the so called prophetic verses in the OT have already been debunked by very learned scholars. All of them. Do some research like I did. You will find the answers, not to your taste but the product of years of painstaking research by academics and scholars.
What you are promulgating in this ridiculous lie is the product of mistranslations, misunderstandings and in a couple of cases downright lies by early (and later) christians.
I deal in facts Grace, not wishful thinking.

Until then I will stick with people who have spent their whole lives studying history, language and archeology. Unlike those who suffer from confirmation bias, those scholars who search (and find facts) and who can change their conclusions, going where the evidence (not zealots) lead.
Your version of "God's word" commands me to commit atrocities, stone my children, sell my daughters...hate my family...so shove your "god's word" from whence it came. There, in one sentence I am more kind, merciful, ethical and moral than any of your three gods.

You’re right. I only read in English, Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. (Translations of course) But I have spent hours and days and weeks and months and years in conversation with the exact God you all seem to deny is real. While you spent time in monasteries with theologians I have cupped my ear to hear the Word of God as He meant it to be heard. And felt. And realized in my life.

How do you know what your god "meant'? Are you claiming a better understanding than any other christian that may worship differently? There are thousands of sects....

Old Man Shouts is an atheist, is it logically impossible to "ignore god" as he does not believe there is are any deities to ignore. like most of the theists who come here you seem to be dealing in broad platitudes and rhetoric, you will find atheists on here are by and large impervious to such religious vapidity.
FYI OMS knows the bible very well, and has a broad knowledge of it's history and origins.

What objective evidence can demonstrate that any deity exists? You'll need to do that before you start making sweeping claims about anything else. That said it should be obvious to any remotely objective reader that bible contains many archaic myths that are demonstrably errant nonsense, a fact that negates your claim.
